Chapter 1...

Meet Francisco Perez. Francisco has been a professional cyclist in the European peloton for the past 7 years. Before that, he was both a junior and U-23 national champion in his native country of Spain. Cycling is all he has ever known. But he hasn't enjoyed the same success as a professional. He is 29 years old now, and on the verge of losing his contract. He doesn't have a lot to fall back on, and isn't financially secure. He was approached earlier in the year while riding the Giro d'Italia by someone who said they had a new performance enhancing drug that is totally undetectable. He declined at the time, but after another summer of no results he's starting to consider it. He knows of one other cyclist who is taking it, and that person has been victorious this year and just signed a 4 million euro contract through 2011. To be continued....
